The present Rolex Explorer II reference 1655 “Albino” Mk II is an exceptionally attractive and well-preserved example of one of Rolex’s most charismatic tool watches. Produced in 1974 and sold in 1981, this watch is offered here as a complete full set, an increasingly rare level of completeness for this reference. The stainless-steel case has just returned from polishing and presents in excellent overall condition, retaining strong proportions and a crisp profile. The watch is fitted with its original Mk II matte dial, preserved in outstanding condition and displaying a beautiful, even patina, perfectly matched by the hands. The defining feature of this example is the original white “Albino” Explorer hand, a highly distinctive and sought-after characteristic of early Explorer II references. The original Mk II fixed steel bezel remains in excellent condition overall, with the black engraved numerals showing light wear and minor fading in places, entirely consistent with age and careful use. The watch is fitted with its original Oyster bracelet reference 78360 with 580 endlinks. The bracelet remains in excellent condition and shows only light stretch from use, consistent with careful wear. The clasp bears the code “VB.” Mechanically, the watch is in perfect working condition at the time of cataloguing, although no service history accompanies the watch.
