REF: 1665
An exceptional example of the iconic Rolex Sea-Dweller “Double Red,” dating from 1974 and fitted with the desirable Mark 4 dial. The stainless steel case was polished in the past but remains thick and well proportioned, with beautiful and symmetrical chamfers. It shows only light wear overall and retains excellent presence on the wrist. The MK4 matte black dial is outstanding — perfectly preserved with no blemishes or discoloration. The tritium hour markers have aged to a rich, dark vanilla tone, while the double red lines of text remain vibrant and crisp. The original bezel is in excellent condition, fitted with its correct period insert showing light wear and a matching tritium pearl. Fitted with a later 93150 Oyster bracelet with 585 endlinks, claspcode VE, showing minimal stretch. The movement caliber 1570 is extremely clean and has been fully checked by our watchmaker. The caseback is correctly engraved 1665 with matching serial engraved inside, as expected for a Double Red from this production range. Serial and reference numbers between the lugs are perfectly legible, indicating the watch has seen little wear over the years. A truly beautiful and honest example of the legendary Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 “Double Red” — featuring a flawless MK4 dial, warm patina, and strong case proportions. A top-tier collector’s piece.
