An exceptional and rarely encountered Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 116568, dating from circa 2000 and belonging to the early P-series production. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, this unusual configuration features a striking bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds, complemented by a rare black dial with diamond-set hour markers. The combination of the deep black dial and sparkling diamond bezel creates a particularly sophisticated appearance. The 40mm case is presented in excellent overall condition and has recently been polished, as evidenced by the remaining Rolex post-polishing protective stickers. The original black dial is beautifully preserved, while the case retains its original serial number P589’XXX. The movement, numbered 0’002’XXX, is the automatic Rolex calibre 4130, featuring 44 jewels. The inside of the caseback is stamped 16500. The watch is fitted with its original 18k yellow-gold Oyster bracelet, reference 78498, with matching end links and deployant clasp, also stamped 78498. The bracelet accommodates a wrist circumference of up to approximately 185mm and shows only a few minor and discreet signs of wear on the clasp. The watch is accompanied by a Rolex service guarantee dated June 5, 2006. A particularly rare and attractive early example of the Daytona Ref. 116568, distinguished by its unusual black diamond-set dial, baguette diamond bezel and early production characteristics.
