A superb example of the Patek Philippe Chronograph reference 5070R in 18k rose gold, originally sold new in London in 2007 and offered as a complete full set. The impressive 42mm rose gold case has recently been professionally polished and is presented in excellent overall condition, retaining beautiful proportions and definition. Importantly, all four original gold hallmarks on the underside of the lugs remain clearly visible and well defined. Introduced in 1998, the reference 5070 marked Patek Philippe's return to the production of a manually wound chronograph-only wristwatch after several decades, and has since become one of the most celebrated modern chronographs from the manufacture. Its distinctive stepped bezel, generous case proportions and beautifully balanced two-register dial give the watch an unmistakable presence on the wrist. Inside is the legendary manually wound calibre CH 27-70, based on the renowned Lemania 2310 movement and beautifully finished to Patek Philippe's exceptional standards. The watch is fitted with a leather strap and its original 18k rose gold deployant clasp. There is no known service history; however, the movement has been checked by our watchmaker and is performing well, with an amplitude of approximately 287 degrees and a rate of around +14 seconds per day. The watch is accompanied by its original box, Certificate of Origin and accessories. A particularly attractive example of the iconic reference 5070R, combining the warmth of a rose gold case, the charm of a traditional manually wound chronograph movement and the desirability of a complete original set.
