A highly attractive and increasingly rare Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6262, dating to circa 1971 and bearing serial number 273XXXX. The watch features an excellent and thick case, which has likely been polished in the past, while retaining strong proportions throughout. The original steel bezel appears unpolished and remains particularly sharp, with crisp engravings and outstanding definition. The original silver tritium dial is in excellent condition, showing only light wear consistent with age. The original hands match perfectly, and all luminous material remains intact. Under UV light, the lume plots and hands glow brightly and fade rapidly at the same rate, demonstrating excellent overall consistency. Powering the watch is the legendary Rolex caliber 727, the final and most evolved version of Rolex’s manual-winding chronograph movement, renowned for its reliability and performance. The watch is fitted with a newer Oyster bracelet reference 78350 with 571 endlinks, which remains in tight condition and is secured by a clasp stamped OP4. There is no known service history, however the watch is in perfect working condition. A beautiful example of the transitional Daytona 6262, combining a strong case, sharp original bezel, attractive silver tritium dial, and the celebrated caliber 727 movement. An excellent opportunity to acquire a classic manual-wind Daytona with outstanding vintage appeal.
