A highly collectible Rolex Explorer II reference 16550, dating to 1986 (serial 910XXXX), originally sold in Lyon and offered as a full set. The case has been polished in the past and shows light wear from use, remaining in very good overall condition with well-defined proportions, though not overly sharp. The reference and serial numbers between the lugs remain crisp and well defined. The standout feature of this watch is its original “rail dial”, which has naturally aged to a highly desirable cream tone. The dial is flawless, with tritium indexes turned to a beautiful eggshell patina, perfectly matched by the hands. The original bezel is in excellent condition, clean and well preserved. The watch is fitted with a later Oyster bracelet reference 78360 with 501B endlinks, showing light wear, and a clasp stamped MA12. The watch is currently being serviced by our watchmaker, ensuring proper functionality upon delivery. A very attractive and honest example of the transitional Explorer II 16550, combining the rare cream rail dial, pleasing patina, and full set provenance.
