The present A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 “Lumen” reference 117.035, executed in 18K white gold, is one of the most innovative and visually striking interpretations of the iconic Lange 1. Produced in 2013 as a limited edition of only 200 pieces worldwide, it was the first Lange 1 to feature the groundbreaking Lumen concept, making it one of the manufacture's most collectible modern references. The white-gold case is preserved in excellent overall condition, showing only very light wear from careful use. The smoked sapphire dial is in perfect condition, as are the original hands, allowing the watch to fully showcase its unique technical display. The defining feature of the Grand Lange 1 Lumen is its semi-transparent smoked sapphire dial, which reveals the oversized date discs beneath while allowing the entire outsize date to glow in the dark thanks to a patented luminous system. Unlike conventional luminous watches, the luminous material is hidden beneath the dial, creating one of the most spectacular nighttime displays in modern watchmaking. Powering the watch is the in-house manual-winding calibre L095.2, composed of approximately 368 components and offering a 72-hour power reserve. The movement features Lange's signature untreated German silver three-quarter plate, hand-engraved balance cock, screwed gold chatons, blued screws, and exceptional hand-finishing visible through the sapphire caseback. The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap in excellent condition and its original white-gold ardillon buckle. While no service history accompanies the watch, it is in perfect working condition at the time of cataloguing. Combining groundbreaking technical innovation, exceptional movement architecture, and production limited to just 200 examples, the Grand Lange 1 Lumen reference 117.035 is widely regarded as one of the most important and collectible contemporary creations from A. Lange & Söhne.
