Presented here is a very rare and historically important example of the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar reference 3940P-011, crafted in platinum and dating to circa 1999. Widely regarded as one of the most significant perpetual calendar wristwatches of the modern era, the reference 3940 played a central role in the revival of high-end mechanical watchmaking during the late 20th century and was famously worn daily by Philippe Stern, former President of Patek Philippe. This example belongs to the third series of production and is part of an extremely limited output, with approximately 330 examples manufactured in platinum. The 36mm platinum case remains in very good overall condition, with hallmarks still visible, though showing signs of past polishing. The watch is fitted with the original solid caseback only. The silvered dial displays light imperfections visible toward the lower portion, consistent with age, while maintaining strong overall presentation and legibility. Powering the watch is the ultra-thin automatic caliber 240 Q, featuring a 22k gold micro-rotor and offering exceptional thinness, allowing the case to maintain an elegant profile of approximately 9mm. The movement is currently running with all functions operating; however, a service is recommended as a precaution, in line with standard auction disclosures. The watch is accompanied by its Certificate of Origin dated 1999, leather folder, product literature, winding presentation box, and platinum Patek Philippe deployant clasp. It is delivered on a non-branded strap, with the original Patek Philippe strap not included.
